It all started with my fascination for DOS based language computers to the point where I set up my first working database - the Johnnie Walker Hole in One Society done in Paradox back in 1989/90. I quickly moved on to setting up and training people on the very new Mac computers that introduced digital design and my obsession with things digital led to building websites.
It wasn't always easy to convince my peers or bosses that this might be the next 'big thing'. One day, my boss at Publicis Cape Town allowed me to design a website from my computer on my desk, despite the fact that I was in client service at that time. I will never forget his words "Do it in your own name and show us". I did and built the first website for the car brand and our client at the time, Ssangyong. Needless to say, we launched our web department soon afterwards.
The digital space has given me the perfect platform to combine my skills as a planner, a meticulous builder of consumer engagement strategies and user experiences, a designer, and just enough tech to have fun.
The fast pace of evolution in the integrated digital space and the ability to leverage a range of them to achieve business objectives, is what makes me excited to get out of bed every day.
